Department Description

The Building Inspection Department enforces all building codes, acts and regulations. They inspect all phases of construction, including electrical, mechanical and structural installations. Inspectors also enforce the Zoning Regulations and Inoperable Motor Vehicle Act. Additionally, the Building Inspector is the liaison to the Zoning Board of Appeals and consultant to other Town Departments and agencies. A staff member is Historic District Coordinator and liaison to the Historic District Commission. This Department also oversees the Property Maintenance and Blight Ordinances.
