MDC Warns of Possible Impostor

The Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) is advising all customers to be cautious of individuals posing as a "Water Company" employee in an attempt to gain entry to a home or obtain money from homeowners. The MDC was made aware of an impostor incident in Wethersfield.

The MDC urges residents, especially those who are home during the day, to be alert for impostors by following these tips:

  1. MDC field employees wear clothing and drive vehicles clearly marked with the MDC logo.
  2. The MDC encourages customers to ask for identification from anyone who comes to their door. All MDC employees have photo identification badges and will gladly display them upon request. The policy is "No Identification - No Entry."
  3. If you have any doubt about the individual's identity or motives, or authenticity of their credentials, do not allow them entry into your home and call the police.
  4. Customers can also call the MDC Emergency Command Center twenty-four hours a day, seven days week at (860) 278-7850 extension 3600 or by e-mail at H2oqc@themdc.com to verify identification and validate that an individual is a representative of the MDC.
