Explore Connecticut River Floodplain In Winter Walks

Families and nature enthusiasts can explore the Connecticut River floodplain in a series of weekend Winter Walks during February. They highlight on-going efforts to conserve naturally and historically significant wetlands, floodplain woodlands, and agricultural areas in the area.

Babysitting Training Course Feb. 22

The Department of Social and Youth Services will be conducting a babysitter training course—leading to an American Academy of Pediatrics Certificate—on Wednesday, February 22. The one-day course for students aged 11 to 14 will take place at the Wethersfield Volunteer Ambulance Headquarters, 206 Prospect Street, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Instructors for the course are Phil and Kim Lombardo, Chief and Assistant Chief of the Wethersfield Volunteer Ambulance Association.

Parks & Rec, Nature Center Announce Vacation Activities

The Parks and Recreation Department and Eleanor Buck Wolf Nature Center will offer a number of special activities and facility hours during the February school vacation, including lifeguard and water safety courses, a sport camp, kids' activities at the 9/11 Memorial Sports Center, and more. Wilderness First Aid Classes in March and May

The Eleanor Buck Wolf Nature Center and Stonehearth Open Learning Opportunities (SOLO) will offer two weekend-long Wilderness First Aid courses this spring. Choose from March 17–18 or May 19–20. The course is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts, volunteer trip leaders, and professionals who want basic training for short trips with friends, family, and outdoor groups.

Town Hall offices have returned to normal hours. Normal hours are as follows:

Monday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Tuesday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Wednesday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Thursday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Awards Acknowledge Assistance With Robbery Arrest

On Thursday, December 10, 2009 Police Chief James Cetran presented an award to a Rocky Hill police officer as well as an employee of D'Angelo's Sandwich Shop for their roles in helping to apprehend a dangerous armed robber.

On Monday, November 23, 2009 at 5:21 p.m. officers from the Wethersfield Police Department were dispatched to D'Angelo's, 1345 Silas Deane Highway for a report of an armed robbery that just occurred at that location. A white male reportedly pulled a handgun on an employee of the business and demanded money.

Wethersfield Voting Districts Redrawn

In Connecticut, responsibility for redrawing legislative and congressional district lines rests with the General Assembly and it is required to do so every ten years based on the results of the decennial federal census. The Connecticut General Assembly adopted their redistricting plan on November 30, 2011.

Drop your donations of new and used books, CDs, DVDs, records and audio books off at the "Got Books" fundraising container located at the High School by the pool entrance.

Police Accident Reports Available Online

On November 1, 2011 the Wethersfield Police Department began offering access to its police accident reports online. The Wethersfield Police Department has partnered with Docview, LLC so as to provide this service.
